Can anyone recommend a good Network Attached Storage Device?

I’m wanting a NAS / FTP server for my home network. Does anyone know of one which would allow me to connect 2 usb printers or should I invest in 2 separate print servers in addition to a NAS?

Short answer: The Netgear Readynas NV+ will (according to their FAQ) support multiple printers.

http://www.readynas.com/?cat=4

Long answer:

Depending on what features you want (RAID, cost etc) a dedicated NAS may or may not be better for you than an old PC running one of the various free server operating systems. An old PC running something like freenas (http://www.freenas.org/) will do everything you want but PC’s (especially old ones) tend to be power hungry and noisy.

A tip – if you want redundancy, check and double check that your NAS can email you when a disk goes bad, you’ll need it one day. (I say this from bitter experience)

Is there a way to get a USB mass storage device to work on a US Robotics Maxg Router USB port?

I have a US robotics Maxg router and tried to hook up a My Book external hard drive to the router’s USB port. I did not see it on my home network. Is there any way to make this work? I was thinking of buying a USB to ethernet adapter, but I’m not really sure if this would work.

Any help would be appreciated.
More detail…I want to be able to have a network hard drive. That’s why I wanted to connect through my router. The My Book World Edition that has the ethernet cable is not Vista compatible.

Hi,

This is a very interesting idea, and I am sure somebody has done this already. But I believe as well that the router itself will have to be re-programmed with software to create the network drive. Search the net and if you find it, let me know. I will ask around as well.

Good luck with it!

ok…….can anyone help me tell me if a hp a6042N has a heatsink with it. dont know how to google it

Do you have a heatsink? if not, I would NOT recommend overclocking. You need to keep cool if you want to do this, you’re also going to need a thermal compound to put inbetween the two surfaces. check out the stuff from Artic Silver.

You can’t just pick out a heatsink, it has to fit your CPU, Check out the socket number of it.
also read this first. http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=330289

nothing you listed is needed to know whether you can overlock or not.
