I want to run a rc of windows 7 but still keep my xp as it is. is there a way to do that like run it on sun virtual box and choose to run it at start up (i dont have hardware virtualisation)

Yes you can.

You can download a partitioning program (I personally use Paragon Partition Manager, but many people like GParted as well) and lower the size of your Windows XP partition, then use the free space to install Windows 7 on it. Every time you boot you will get the choice between Windows 7 and Windows XP.

hey, just wondering if i can do it?
i have intel core 2 duo and a gigabyte ep45-ud3lr motherboard
is it a bios update? im currently running f4 (i know its far behind, but up until now i havn’t needed to update)
thanks!

It is always best to have the most current bios installed to the motherboard, F4 is very very old in terms of gigabyte bios. At the moment your motherboard can have F10 bios.

But VT is enabled by default on most of the gigabyte motherboards if the processor supports it. It is in the "Advanced Bios Features"
