I was setting up my network storage through the router settings in my firefox browser. I accidentally deleted a folder with allot of vital documents and need to recover them. I spoke with linksys through online chat and they told me that there is no way to recover it since it was deleted through the router settings. I also tried to use a hard drive recovery tool, but the files didn’t show up. Anyone got ideas?
That’s horrible to hear. I know the feeling, that’s happened to me quite a few times. In all honesty, I don’t think there’s a way to recover that kind of data. It’s most likely all gone. Sorry for the bad news. I would just get backup software to prevent that from happening again.

I am going to use ADSL2+ internet connection
my purpose is to download movies/music of size upto 4GB..
can anyone suggest good modem-router?
1GB storage modem-router?
Like answered before, any decent modem-router will serve your purpose.
But if you are interested (and, can afford) there is a cool device, Asus WL 700gE which is not only a WiFi modem-router, but also has an inbuilt hard disk. You can also add or upgrade hard-drives to this. The thing is that you won’t need to keep the PC turned on, to download the torrent…the router will save it to its internal hard-disk, and you can save energy and money by not having to keep the computer turned on 24 x 7.

I have a Westell 2200 from Verizon (Which they allowed me to keep after I ended service with them.) I was wondering if anyone knew any way I could turn it into a small USB storage.
It has an OS on it, leading me to believe that there is some small storage capacity in it.
No. It’s just a modem. It doesn’t have the capability of doing any storage.

I want to make an external hard drive available over the network without having to plug it into a computer. Would this solve my problem? Where can I get one cheap?
Yes you could and yes that would solve your problem and I would go to Fry’s Electronics to get it.
