Does anyone know what Intel chips out today support Intel’s Virtualization Technology?

All "modern" intel processor support virtualization technology. AMD processors also support virtualization technology. Looking into the requirements from the Virtualization vendors (Microsoft, VMWare, XenSource, etc) and make sure that you use at least the minimum recommended processor.

There will be new chips coming out from AMD and Intel that are designed to better support hypervisor technology in the next version of Windows Longhorn Server.

As far as some of the new "Nx" (No-eXecute) features in Windows, not all intel CPU’s support it (as of August 2006). While all AMD processors do support Nx.

Virtual PC can not start because this computer does not support hardware-assisted virtualization?

Hi everyone :) when i wanted to create virtual machine, it said "Virtual PC can not start because this computer does not support hardware-assisted virtualization" :( I have a fujitsu-siemens laptop with processor Intel(R) core(TM) 2 CPU T5500 1.66GHz :( maybe it should be any way to start xp mode, I need it very much :( I have a sony camcorder, that i used as a webcam. but it has only xp usb driver (not for wind 7) and i need to use it again :\ if there is any chance i can use it. I know there are also some problems installing xp after windows seven, to use them both.. so I’m waiting for your advices :) thanks in advance guys, take care :)

On occasion albeit a pain you can use XP drivers in 7 I discovered the following procedure for a problematic Linksys usb wi-fi device and discovered it worked well for other problem devices as well.

Step one: download the XP camera driver from Sony

Two: run it like you were planning to install this will extract the drivers to a temp folder or a folder on the C: drive

Three: Expect any installer to fail horribly but remember the path where folders were extracted.

Four: Plug in the device then when it asks for a driver choose the path to where the installation program extracted to.

Win 7 should 8 times out of 10 snag the .inf for your camera and install the appropriate driver.

Hope that helps.

How do I enable AMD-V? Do I even have AMD-V support? Windows XP Virtualization?

Okay so I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 2.10 GHz and I’m wondering if I have AMD-V support so I can use XP Virtualization mode in Windows 7. I tried looking through the BIOS but I couldn’t find anything.

http://yfrog.com/2rpicturelp

Those are my specs

And my BIOS looks something like this

yes you can. i strongly advice you to get a 64bit operating System because you have 1 gb of ram you cant use and with Virtual xp you need it.

What is Support Virtualization?

http://www.bomgar.com/virtualsupportsolutions/ – The current environment for support is characterized by geographically separate silos of remote support staff and end users. This limits end users’ access to specialists and costs lost productivity.

But what if support staff were not limited by geography? What if specialists were a shared, virtual resource? At Bomgar, we think this is how it should be.

Bomgar lives between your remote support staff and your end users. It centralizes your support staff in a virtual environment. Increase capacity, increase responsiveness, and increase consolidation.

Does the Intel Core 2 Quad processor Q6600 support hardware virtualization?

What I’m getting at is does it fully implement Hardware DEP – it has all three features, or not?
If you have one, you can test it with the program found here -

http://www.grc.com/securable.htm

It sure does, all modern CPU’s support DEP (I disabled it on mine as it kept crashing explorer). Hardware Virtualisation was supported on all intel E6xxx’s and as the Q6xxx’s are newer and are essentially two of the E6xxx’s in a single package, it would also support Hardware Virtualisation.

Hardware virtualisation however was missing on the E4xxx’s and E2xxx’s

All core 2 processors support EM64T and thats your 64 bit ;)

Is there a patch I can apply to virtualbox OSE to make it support 3d acceleration?

All the 3d-supporting virtualization software seems to be on the Mac.

Hi, I don’t think there is one yet. I have heard vmware has experimental support for 3d in Linux. I think it is on one of their paid editions.
