VSS backups are possible on Exchange 2007 Std Edition. Replication can take place regardless of the version. Third-party archiving is outside of Exchange so that doesn’t require a specific Exchange version… although you never know with some pieces of software. Always check the release notes and requirements before you purchase!

What about simple costs such the power useage of DAS solutions. I know of many customers who have huge issues around the power costs of their solution.
In fact most customers who investigate their overall costs will find that the power costs of a DAS solution will end up spending more on powering their DAS solutions over a 3 year period than on the original purchase of the solution itself!..
